MANASQUAN, N.J. (Oct. 22, 2012) This Saturday night the Algonquin Arts Theatre gets wonderfully weird for "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" at 8 p.m. in a Brew & View event to celebrate Halloween.

Sponsored by Bouquets to Remember, doors for this fantastically freaky film open at 7 p.m. A costume contest for best Rocky Horror costume and best overall costume will be judged at 7:30 p.m.

"The Rocky Horror Picture Show" is the greatest cult film of all time, with a long history of audience interaction through an alternate script complete with props that spread virally shortly after the film's release in 1975. The film has the longest-running theatrical release, still playing on its original limited release by 20th Century Fox on Sept. 26, 1975.

Tickets are $12 and on sale in advance at algonquinarts.org, by calling 732-528-9211 or stopping by the Box Office at 173 Main Street in Manasquan from 12-6 p.m. on weekdays and 12-4 on Saturdays. The Box Office will open at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27 for tickets. This film is rated R. Children under 17 must be accompanied by parent/guardian.

No outside props are allowed, however, prop bags may be purchased for $5 in the theatre or in advance by reserving a ticket that includes a prop bag. The provided prop bag will include bubbles (in place of rice), party hats, newspapers, noisemakers, rubber gloves, water pistols, cards and more. Beer & wine will be available for purchase.

Starring Tim Curry, Barry Bostwick, Academy Award-winner Susan Sarandon and even Meatloaf, "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" parodies science fiction and horror B-movies mixed in with all types of rock and roll from the middle of the 20th century.

On the way to visit an old college professor, the two clean-cut kids, Brad Majors (Bostwick) and his fiancee Janet Weiss (Sarandon), run into car trouble and seek help at the site of a light down the road. It's coming from "the Frankenstein place," where Dr. Frank N Furter (Curry), a transvestite from the planet Transexual in the galaxy of Transylvania, is in the midst of one of his maniacal experiments.

Agape in this world of science fiction and fantasy, Brad and Janet don't know what next to expect, and with the alternative script in play neither does the audience.

Brad, Janet and the cast of crazy characters perform the iconic "Time Warp" and the rest of a memorable sound track that recently saw a resurgence of popularity when it was featured on an episode of "Glee."
