MANASQUAN, N.J. (July 9, 2012) Hitchcock meets hilarious at Algonquin Arts Theatre in Manasquan as Shore Repertory Theatre Company's production of "The 39 Steps" takes the stage for six performances from July 13 to 22.

"The 39 Steps" is a two-time Tony and Drama Desk Award-winner that mixes an Alfred Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel and a dash of Monty Python to create a fast-paced whodunit for anyone who loves the magic of theatre. This play is packed with nonstop laughs, more than 150 zany characters (played by a ridiculously talented cast of four), an on-stage plane crash, handcuffs, missing fingers and some good old-fashioned romance!

Broadway's longest running comedy is on stage at Algonquin Arts Theatre for two weekends starting on Friday, July 13 and closing on Sunday, July 22. Tickets are on sale at algonquinarts.org, by calling 732-528-9211 or stopping by the Box Office at 173 Main Street in Manasquan from 12-6 p.m. on weekdays and 12-4 on Saturdays. Regular tickets are available for $28 for adults, $26 for seniors and $18 for students. Premium tickets the first 10 rows of the orchestra center section are available $33, $31 and $23, respectively. A $2 processing fee will be applied to each ticket.

In "The 39 Steps", a man with a boring life meets a, woman with a thick accent who says she's a spy. When he takes her home, she is murdered. Soon, a mysterious organization called "The 39 Steps" is hot on the man's trail in a nationwide manhunt that climaxes in a death-defying finale.

This frenetic farce careens from place to place and muddle to mess. The conclusion combines mishaps, mistaken identities, and tongue-in-cheek references to murder mysteries and detective movies.

Wayne Harris plays the role of Richard Hannay, the play's main character and protagonist, while Hannah Hale plays the role of each of Richard's three female companions throughout the show. The cast of four is rounded out by Jeff Caplan and Brian Fuorry, who together play nearly 140 additional roles including policemen, criminals, professors, children and the occasional inanimate object.

An original concept by Simon Corble and Nobby Dimon adapted by Patrick Barlow from the John Buchan novel and Hitchcock movie, Shore Repertory Theatre Company's "The 39 Steps" is directed by Jan Topoleski and produced by John Czekaj.

Following "The 39 Steps" the Algonquin Arts Theater Summer Series continues with "Oliver!" in August. A two-show package is available and offers savings of up to $3 per ticket. A pair of concerts are also on tap with G. Love on July 27 and Chris Pinnella: Live at the Algonquin, on Aug. 18.

Algonquin Arts Theatre was founded in 1992 as a nonprofit organization to provide cultural enrichment and educational enhancement of the highest quality for Central New Jersey residents.
