Fifteen finalists from Point Pleasant to Paramus survived the audition process to be selected as 2011's Rising Stars with seven vocalists and eight musicians slated to participate in the concert.

The vocalists include Michelle Bonzani (Point Pleasant), Hannah Black (New Providence), Lauren Fogarty (Wall), Christa Grammer (Jackson), Gregory Grimes (New Providence), Samantha Sayah (Howell) and Brianna Vitale (Marlboro).

On piano, the event will feature Marilyn Dillon from Point Pleasant and Nicholas Andrej, Reyna Barnes and Clarice Forbes of Patterson. John Bogan of Point Pleasant will be featured on guitar, Lily Kaufman of Westwood on alto saxophone, Aline Vartanian of Paramus on viola and Megan Yi of Rutherford on violin.

The Rising Stars program was created through the Algonquin Arts Theatre Education Department with the help of Lee Weisert from Manasquan High School. Originally open to students in Monmouth and Ocean Counties, the program is now available to the entire state.

As part of the program, finalists will meet with a guest mentor a professional in the classical music industry and will have the opportunity to speak one-on-one with the mentor and further explore the possibility of a future career in the music industry.

Algonquin Arts Theatre was founded in 1992 as a nonprofit organization that uses the arts to provide cultural enrichment and educational enhancement of the highest quality for Central New Jersey residents.
