Summer Stage is a performing arts camp for children, teens and adults. This year we are pleased to announce new course offerings for students ages high school through adult. Summer
Stage offers participants a chance to explore their artistic abilities in all areas of the performing arts through half-day workshops which include: Stage & Film, Acting, Improvisational
Playwriting, Musical Theatre, Dance, Songwriting, and a School of Rock. Summer Stage provides a safe and fun environment where students can develop their creative and dramatic skills
with professional artists. Each session culminates in a final public performance on stage at Algonquin Arts.

Acting and Improv: Wait, What’s My Line?
Ages: 6 – 16 • Camp Hours: 9 am – 1:30 pm • Cost: $325
Let the theatre fun and games begin, from tongue twisters to putting on a play. While learning the basics of acting & improvisation, dance, vocal clarity, stage presence, character
role-plays and story development, students will create their own original play to be performed on the last day of the camp.

Behind the Scenes
Ages: 6 – 16 • Camp Hours: 11 am – 1 pm • Cost: $150
Have you ever wanted to take part in the fun of being in a play, but had a serious case of stage fright? Well, this program is just for you! Using the best tools and skills from
arts and crafts, students will learn how to design simple sets, props and costumes that will be featured on stage during the final performances of the Acting & Improv session.

Act, Sing, and Dance to Broadway Classics
Ages: 8 - 17 • Camp Hours: 9 am – 1 pm • Cost: $325
Our Musical Theatre program is back by popular demand. Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced level students learn the essentials of being in a musical by acting, singing, and dancing
their heart out! Each group learns scenes, songs and dances from popular Broadway Hits. This years’ program will be based on the following classics: The Sound of Music, Annie Get
Your Gun, and The Music Man.

Two five-day intensive rock and songwriting workshops with Bob Halligan, Jr. Singer/Songwriter Bob Halligan, Jr. has seen his tunes rack up sales of 30 million units since his
first hit in 1980. Among the artists who’ve covered his songs are: Cher, Kiss, Michael Bolton, Judas Priest, Kathy Mattea, Rebecca St. James, Joan Jett, and dozens of others. Films
include Iron Eagle, and Wayne’s World; TV saw a Cable Ace nomination for a tune on Nickelodeon’s “Roundhouse.” Among the many people he’s worked with and learned from are Phil Galdston
(“Save the Best for Last”), Michael Bolton (“How Am I Supposed to Live Without You”), Eric Kaz, Bonnie Raitt, Linda Ronstadt, Phil Ramone, Jim Henson, Billy Joel, and a host of elegant
others.

Bob Halligan, Jr.’s: School of Rock
Ages: 11 – 15+ • Intensive Hours: 9 am – 1 pm • Cost: $250
Come learn to rock n’ roll with industry professional and gold record singer/songwriter Bob Halligan, Jr. Students will discover what it is like to be in a band and learn basics
about music, including repertoire, group listening, musical technique, rehearsal, singing, choreography and the fine points of performance. Students will learn some classic songs
and collaborate on an original song, culminating in a final evening performance on July 25th at 7pm. STUDENTS MUST BRING THEIR OWN INSTRUMENTS.

Songwriting
Ages: High School – Adult • Intensive Hours: 2 pm – 4 pm
Cost: $250
Halligan brings his 25-plus years of hit-making experience to this exciting, interactive workshop that is a comfortable fit for intermediate and advanced students alike. Technically,
Halligan addresses issues like prosody (the sound of the music matching the sound of the words) and melodic construction. Philosophically, he touches on things like “purity of purpose”
and “writing what you know”. Anyone who comes to this workshop serious about becoming a better songwriter and/or an effective member of the music business community will have come
to the right place! Selected class song(s) will be featured in a final evening performance on July 25th at 7pm.

Act On-Camera: After These Messages…
We’ll Be Right Back!
Ages: 8 and up • Intensive Hours: 9 am – 1 pm • Cost: $250
This exciting program has two goals: Students will learn the principles of acting on-camera and how to properly read a commercial. Then, acting as advertising agents, students will
create their own products and develop a commercial from concept to casting to film. The commercials will be aired on stage at Algonquin Arts in an evening performance on July 25th
at 7pm.
