August 26, 2008

Algonquin Arts in Manasquan will be hosting its overwhelmingly successful School of Rock again this fall. Students of the program will be instructed by Kenny Lehman, a GRAMMY-nominated, gold record producer and artist. In addition to the School of Rock, Lehman will also be teaching the upcoming Songwriting class at the theatre.

Kenny Lehman is a music performer, composer, arranger, orchestrator, and producer who graduated from Juilliard School of Music with a focus in woodwinds and composition. Students registered in the School of Rock and Songwriting classes at Algonquin Arts will have the rare opportunity to work with this esteemed professional who has taken the music industry by storm.

Students enrolled in the School of Rock will discover what it is like to play and sing in a band and learn basics of music, including repertoire, group listening, focus, rehearsing, presentation, and performance skills. Students enrolled in the Songwriting class will experience weekly sessions that focus on listening, creating, jamming, sharing, critiquing and enjoying each others work. They will also learn about lyric, melodic, and song construction, as well as versatility in writing styles.

The School of Rock welcomes students ages eleven and up to register. Classes will be held on Saturdays from October 4th - December 5th from 10:00 am - noon. The cost to register is $295, and students must bring their own instruments. The Songwriting class welcomes students ages thirteen through adult.
