On Thursday, June 10th over 180 guests arrived at the Mill at Spring Lake Heights for live entertainment, a four course meal, and the opportunity to bid on unique prizes in support of Algonquin Arts Theatre. This years gala, The Jazz Club: from the 1930s to today, using the arts to help communities thrive during challenging times, raised over $70,000, thanks to the generous donations of all who attended.

The event, hosted by Mel Hood and Algonquins own John Newman, William Whitefield, and Brett Colby, featured a cocktail hour, a formal dinner, dessert, and plenty of entertainment, including performances by Mel Hood, the Poncho D Group, the Algonquin Youth Ensemble, and others. Guests had the opportunity to bid on unique items in a silent auction, as well as bid in a live auction for the chance to win a tropical getaway.

Contributions from the Gala will be used in support of the Theatres educational outreach programs. Through diverse education initiatives, such as a Head Start Literacy Program, a Theatre Autism Workshop, the Rising Stars classical music competition, The Acting Studio at Asbury Park High School, ShoreDance, and the Performing Arts Academy, the Theatre still strives to make an impact on the lives of children and the community.

Algonquin Arts Theatre would like to thank their 2010 Gala honorees: PNC, Lee Weisert, Christina Sanes & Buren Gilpin, as well as our event sponsors: The Mill at Spring Lake Heights, Simon Kaufman, Esq. & Maria Zito-Kaufman, George & Ruth Harms, Dr. Ken & Pam Indahl of Allaire Foot & Ankle Center and Homecare for Children, John Renna of Allaire Engraving, Bouquets to Remember, Carol Doherty of Silpada Designs, Robert W.
