Algonquin Arts Theatre is excited to announce the details of their annual 2010 gala: The Jazz Club: From the 1930s to today, using the arts to help communities thrive in challenging times. The formal event will be held at The Mill at Spring Lake Heights on Thursday, June 10, 2010 at 6:00 pm, led by Master of Ceremonies Mel Hood.

This years honorees include Corporate Sponsor PNC, Arts Educator Lee Weisert, and Local Supporters Buren Gilpin and Christina Sanes. These honorees have been selected for their service and commitment to the arts and the local communities. Since 2008, PNC has served as the leading financial supporter of Algonquin Arts Theatres Page & Stage program for 3-5-year-old children in regional Head Start learning centers. Mr. Lee Weisert, music and theatre teacher of 38 years at Manasquan High School, co-founded Algonquin Arts Theatre's Rising Stars classical music competition for young adults. Algonquin Arts board members, Mr. Buren Gilpin and Ms. Christina Sanes, have worked feverishly to implement a solid strategic plan at the Theatre, as well as leading the efforts for the new Capital Campaign.

The evening will boast a 1930s jazz supper club theme to illuminate the need for the arts during difficult economic times throughout history. Cocktail hour will begin at 6:00 pm, followed by dinner and awards at 7:00 pm. The Poncho D Group and Pat Karwan will fill the ballroom with musical entertainment throughout the evening, and live and silent auctions will also take place. Some of this years prizes include: a tropical resort vacation plus a $1,000 American express gift card for trip expenses, two sets of Yankees ticket packages, and a weekend getaway for two to New York City which will include passes to the Museum of Arts & Design, dinner at The BB King Blues Club & Grill, and accommodations.
