Lifelong Learning

Algonquin Arts Theatre is excited to announce our debut lineup of Lifelong Learning Classes in 2018. Classes are 90 minutes long on weekday afternoons. Advance reservations are requested and can be made via the links on this page or by calling our Box Office at 732-528-9211.

Each 90-minute class costs $15 and registration links are under each class heading. Patrons can register for all five classes for a discounted rate of $50 using the link immediately below this line.

Life and Legacy of Louis Armstrong

Ricky Riccardi is Archivist for the Louis Armstrong House Museum in New York, and self-confessed 'Louis Armstrong freak'. He graduated with a Master's in Jazz History and Research from Rutgers and had delivered lectures on Armstrong at the Institute of Jazz Studies, the Satchmo Summerfest in New Orleans, the Monterey Jazz Festival and many other locations around the world.

The Director of Research Collections for the Louis Armstrong House Museum was published in 2011 to write the liner notes for the productions of never previously release material from the Louis Armstrong Archives on its Legends series. These productions were licensed from the Louis Armstrong Educational Foundation. Riccardi is the author of the critically acclaimed What a Wonderful World: The Magic of Louis Armstrong's Later Years.

The 21st century's foremost expert on Louis Armstrong, according to Thomas Cunniffe of Jazz History Online, Riccardi Is immersed in all things Armstrong. He runs the online blog, The Wonderful World of Louis Armstrong, and lectures on Armstrong at venues around the world, including the Institute of Jazz Studies, the Satchmo Summerfest, the Bristol International Jazz and Blues Festival and the Monterey Jazz Festival. He has taught a "Music of Louis Armstrong" graduate course at Queens College and a six-week "Swing University" course on Louis Armstrong at Jazz at Lincoln Center. Ricky has also co-produced Armstrong releases for Mosaic Records and Universal.
